What are the advantages and problems with retrofitting LEDs?

Fitting lamps rather than entire fittings can be problematic. LED lighting lamps are typically heavier so you need to be sure the existing fittings are fit for purpose. Some lamps can be fitted without any issues however the existing built in drivers may need to be bypassed. We would always recommend using a qualified electrician to complete any installation work.

When dimmer switches are involved LED lamps may flicker at lower settings. There are ways to adapt the current switches in some situations or alternatively a purpose built LED dimmer can be installed.

Save the planet whilst saving on your electricity bills, it’s a simple, effective switch.

We can arrange for a lighting survey to be carried for your business to help you decide on the best configuration of lights for your business to maximise efficiency and your annual savings.

  • On average a British business will spend approximately 30% of their power bill on lighting annually. A large amount of this money is wasted due to the inefficiency of conventional lighting solutions like tube lighting or filament bulbs, as these produce large quantities of heat and other waste products instead of light.

  • Replacing traditional lighting solutions with LED bulbs can save you 90% on your annual lighting bill.

  • LED bulbs are far more efficient than traditional lighting sources, producing more light with a greatly reduced power input.

  • A traditional 600 lumens (Lm) bulb requires 60w to power it for an hour, an equivalent energy saving CFL bulb requires 15w but a 600 Lm LED bulb only requires 10w to power it for an hour.

If you decide to replace all the bulbs in your business with LED lighting you can expect an average ROI of 3-12 months. However, if you decide to change fittings or the configuration of your lighting your ROI will be slightly longer.
